About

I was born and raised in St Petersburg, Florida. I began my golf journey at the tender age of six. My parents, Cliff and Lucille, were both golfers and decided to make it a family activity. My brother Jim and I both began to play with the guidance of our Dad, who had a single digit handicap. We became members at Lakewood CC (now St. Pete CC) and that’s where we received our first formal golf instruction. When I was nine, a summer Junior Camp, run by the legendary Skip Alexander, was offered at the club. By the age of 11, I was breaking 80. My God-given talent and desire to excel, coupled with the knowledge gained from a PGA teacher’s expertise, enabled me to progress at an accelerated rate.

I graduated from Lakewood High School where I played on the golf team for three years and on the baseball team my senior year. I was voted onto the All-City and All-County golf teams each year, as well as to the All-City and All-County baseball team my senior year. I attended Eastern Kentucky University on a golf scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.

I turned pro and played the PGA Space Coast Tour for two years. I cashed a few checks but ultimately decided to get into the golf industry. Over a span of six years, I worked at a club here in Florida, and one in Texas. During that time, I was teaching extensively and honing my skills. My passion for teaching grew and led me to leave my club job and seek a position where I could concentrate all my attention on teaching.

Over the years, I have taught at several locations in Pinellas County. I have instructed thousands of students including women, men, juniors, individuals with disabilities, and all skill levels from beginner to professional. I am presently teaching at Ace Golf Driving Ranges, Brandon and Riverview, in Hillsborough County. I am also an instructor for National Golf Schools. My method of teaching centers on working with the individual and their own unique abilities. I determine their goals, develop sound fundamentals, and establish a plan for improvement.

PGA Professionals who have influenced my career are: Skip Alexander, Jack Good, Dr. Jim Suttie, Ray Struder, Dick Hoelzer, and Pat Livingston, who is also the CEO of National Golf Schools.
