About

My teaching approach:

My approach to musical instruction revolves around the student and what they are looking to get out of their lessons. Some may want to improve primarily they're technical playing skill while others want to gain knowledge of theory to they can improve their song writing capabilities. I also teach music production, mixing and mastering. Mom my studio I have a MacBook Pro computer with several different digital audio workstations including Logic, GarageBand and Studio One Pro. I have a midi keyboard in which I also will supplement in place of the guitar at times to help show a particular lesson.

My influences are:

Instead of listing bands I will list the types of music that influence me. Blues, classic rock, modern and alternative rock, progressive rock, Alternative Christian, funk, jazz and classical.

My guitar lessons take place in:

The teacher's studio or the student's home

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

My best day is Wednesday. I am available from 9 am to 7:30 pm on Wednesdays. Any other day of the week I have only one slot from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm. (Excluding weekends)

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

Get to know the students, what are their musical goals and aspirations. It very important to know upfront what the student is hoping to get out of their lessons. Assessment of abilities would be somewhat tailored to what the student has told me their level of playing is, it may involve a combination of music theory questions and of course hands on playing of scales, chords, progressions and musical site reading.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

10 to 15 minutes of introduction / review of previous lesson and any homework. 15 minutes of hands on playing and practice, 10 minutes of music theory discussion to cement I place what was discussed and 5 minutes wrap up.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

Someone who is teachable, willing to learn, ask questions and be challenged.
