About

Music is the key to the soul and beautiful music is much more than just a sound. It is a therapy, an outlet, a release, and one that many are getting involved in to promote their well-being... Not to mention the sheer joy of it! Making music can improve your quality of life. Active participation in music challenges the mind, sparks the imagination, and brings joy and satisfaction. Whether you are seeking lessons for yourself or your child, you have come to the right place. My background involves over 30 years of music education at all levels and piano instruction to thousands of students in a unique piano lab program in NY.

Here you will find a place to be joyful and to create music. You will have an individualized program which will be geared toward your success with your specific goals in mind; whether it is to begin to start on your musical journey, learn a piece you’ve always wanted to, or to prepare for Music Education Festivals, -you will find a unique approach to learning here.

I welcome students of all abilities and ages, including those with special needs. I love teaching piano and I am dedicated to helping my students reach their musical goals. Lessons are conducted on a stunning Yamaha baby Grand piano which can record, add background tracks, help you to compose and which has a unique “silent” piano feature with headphone option. The room is open, bright and inspiring, with plenty of natural light.

    Frequently asked questions

Students come to a new teacher with an endless variety of previous experiences.  It is my responsibility as a teacher to analyze my students’ needs on an individual basis, and provide each one with an approach that will best suit his/her personal development.  As a teacher, my job is to foster the strengths, and address all issues that need improvement. During my tenure as Head Instructor at The Piano Lab on Long Island,  I had the unique experience of teaching piano to thousands of students over the course of my career. A famous alumni of the District I worked in, Billy Joel, served as an inspiration to all the students of what can be accomplished when  motivation and love for this instrument are combined.

Often, teaching and learning piano occurs in a one-on-one setting such as private lessons.  Thus, it is paramount that I treat each student as an individual with different needs and learning styles; a one-size-fits-all approach will definitely not suffice.  To be effective, I strive to discover what motivates each student from the beginning.  Also, I recognize the fact that different music students will have different goals:  a recreational player, a middle school band director in training, and an aspiring concert soloist will have different aspirations and will benefit from different teaching techniques.

I love what I do and am enthusiastic about helping you or your child meet their musical goals and ambitions.

My degrees in Music Education and three decades of  experience in piano instruction, theatre and Judging Festivals (Nyssma and FSMTA)  have enabled me to discover what motivates students so that they experience the gift of self-expression through music.  A comprehensive program with emphasis on note reading, technique development, music theory, ear training, artistic interpretation and expression is tailored to meet each student’s assessed competencies, developmental level and, most importantly, their personality!

I studied piano with Julliard Instructor, Mario DeJesu; Musical analysis with Raoul Pleskow, Vocal music with Larry Eisman and Electronic music with Herbert Deutsch, a pioneer in the field. One of the most important legacy’s I was left with of their training is that each student is as individual as the music they will be learning and that different approaches or methods may be successfully applied.

Only online lessons are being offered during 2020.

If you do not have a keyboard or instrument you would need to buy one before our lessons begin.

I would be happy to advise you on this if you need any guidance regarding a reasonably priced keyboard or a grand piano!

Please feel free to contact me anytime. If I am teaching another student when you call, I will contact you within 24 hours so we can chat about what YOU hope to gain out of our lessons and so that we may become better acquainted with one another.

Thank you for contacting me and I look forward to a "harmonious" journey.Ms. F
