Banks' Music Lessons
About
In my experience, the process of taking the student from one level to the next is the most gratifying part of teaching. I believe it is my duty to give the student the tools to achieve the level of musical mastery that best works for them. In 2021 I received my Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from Georiga State University in Atlanta, where one of my duties as a graduate assistant was to help teach student jazz groups as part of Dr. Gordon Vernick's Rialto Youth Jazz Orchestra. This experience had me working with a diverse group of middle and high-school students of varying skill levels. Since graduating, I have had the opportunity to teach Saxophone, Flute, and Clarinet lessons through the Atlanta-based in-home music lessons company Imagine Arts and at the Music and Arts location in East Cobb.
My goal is to ensure that the student is having the most positive experience possible. It is a great joy to not only watch my students progress in their musical studies but also to see them enjoy the process.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step when working with a new student is to find out what they want to achieve on the instrument. If they don't quite know what that is yet I see it as my role to fill in the gaps and help them find a path for themselves as a musician.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors's Degree in Saxophone Performance from Mercer University and a Masters's Degree from Georgia State University. I have worked as an instructor for the Otis Redding Foundation's Summer Music Camp (2019) and as an ensemble coach for the Rialto Youth Jazz Orchestra.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30 for a half-hour
$35 for 45 minutes
$40 for an hour
What types of students have you worked with?
All levels and ages. I generally work with beginners (middle school band students) however I have also worked with more advanced students and even adults.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Come with a good attitude and be ready to learn and have fun. One does not have to practice all hours of the day to be a good musician or even to enjoy the process.
