Emerald Polyphony Music
About
Upon receiving my Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, I studied how to teach music much more thoroughly than just winging it with a few books and a pat on a students' back. While every student has different musical needs, I follow a very comprehensive study system that not only follows tried and true methods for successful learning while at the same time, the differences in a student's learning is where I can customize the effort to a particular style or subject to broaden their learning experience.
Seriously, it's one of my favorite things to do. I love to focus for an hour or so with my students with them as they are focussing on things new to them, and then when the lightbulb comes on I am just as thrilled as they are. I love those moments.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Playing something previously learned prior to me gives me a great insight as to their strengths and weaknesses and also helps determine a good idea of their "level". A brand new student will show me some things I teach by ear on the first lesson, along with an ear training placement test and also a theory test. (no body fails these, they're only for placement).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 35 years of teaching experience, and I have a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. I studied a great deal of private teaching, and I learned more than I knew prior (Of course!) I no longer have empty spaces in my teaching and I am very thorough.
I also love teaching older students and understand their great love for music and for a patient and sincere teacher.
