Venture Into Art
About
As a professional artist I’m constantly learning new techniques and ideas for painting. I pass this knowledge on to my students. I work with beginner to intermediate level artists.
Born and raised in Marietta, Georgia, Juanita Bellavance spent her formative years immersing herself in craft, sewing and music. She attended Georgia State University and received a BA degree in Music Education.
For ten years while teaching music, Juanita incorporated her love of art through very complex backdrops for her elementary chorus musicals. She also availed art as a tool for helping students understand music concepts. Art gave her an opportunity to use visual imagery to provide helpful analogies to her students.
In 1994, Juanita’s entrepreneurial spirit led her away from teaching and into the interior decor industry where she was a professional faux finish and muralist around Atlanta. After ten years of non-stop work, the market crashed forcing her to get back to teaching music and art at private Montessori schools.
While teaching art to children, Juanita began to study art as a subject and to learn fine art techniques and skills. She has now completely transitioned from music, other than for pleasure of course, to doing only fine art.
Juanita has presented works at several juried shows around Atlanta and shows in South Carolina. She is a member of the prestigious group, Inside Out: 35 Women of Expressive Abstracts. Juanita has won several awards and continues to develop her artistic voice through acrylic abstract expressionism and collage works.
I enjoy seeing how proud people are with their results!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Initially, I like to see what the student has been doing so I can customize for their level and interest. For beginners I often start by using my own supplies for the first lesson and streamline what's needed for the student to own and bring to next lessons.
