Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would first like to do a phone call to get to know the student better, find out about their tennis experiences and set up a place and time for the first lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing for 5 years for division one college, I have a degree in exercise science and I am currently working on getting my strength and conditioning certificate.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My fee is $50/Hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I was teaching at the tennis club back home in Europe over the summers when I was already going to college. Here in Hawaii, I was asked by some coaches for help with their students because they knew me since I was playing at university.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all age groups - from 5-year-olds to 50-year-olds. I have been teaching beginners but also have been a sparring partner and advisor for highschool players.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am will be finishing my degree soon so that's exciting.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would make sure that the teacher is a good tennis player himself, have sufficient knowledge about the right technique, and have knowledge that will actually help them to achieve their goals. The coach should also be a person you get along with. Even though tennis is hard, you also have fun doing it and it should not feel like hard work.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think it is important to identify the goals for yourself and communicate them right so the teacher can identify the best way to help you.
