Jack Paulsen Guitar Lessons

My teaching approach:

Easy major chords and progress from there to get my students playing as quickly as possible. Acoustic and electric guitar, 6 string banjo, digital recorder and music production computer software. As students progress we will visit nursing homes, hospitals and early learning centers and give concerts. This helps build self esteem and confidence.

Paul Simon, Gordon Lightfoot, many country and rock performers.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

A beginner with no experience - four beginning chords to play many songs as quickly as possible. Introduction to reading music with take home materials. Play simple practice song with student. Encourage practice.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

Teaching and practicing chords. Using chords on songs. This time is split between reading music. Playing practice songs with students. Assigning 1/2 per day practice lessons. Different finger picking styles. Song structure and song writing advice.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

Someone who truly wants to learn at any age.
