Let Me Share My Love Of Music With You!

I have over 20 years' experience teaching private piano. I have also taught class piano to children and adults. I have taught private piano at my home and also in the homes of my students. I have also taught private piano at Orchepia School of Music in Irvine, CA, and at Yamaha Music Education in Irvine and Anaheim Hills, CA. I taught class piano at Arizona State University and at Orange Coast College and Santa Ana Community Colleges in Orange County, California. I currently live in Goleta, CA, next to Santa Barbara. I teach private piano lessons in my home, in the homes of my students, and at Santa Barbara Sheet Music in downtown Santa Barbara.

I have a PhD in Musicology from Claremont Graduate University, and masters' degrees in Piano Performance and Music History from Arizona State University. I also have a lifetime certificate to teach music in California Community Colleges. I am a member of the Music Teachers Association of California and have prepared students for the Certificate of Merit (CM) program, with great success. My students have performed in recitals and at CM evaluations. I have competed for and received fellowships and scholarships in music and in piano performance.

Music is central to my life. It is essential to my well-being. I have had a passion for music for as long as I can remember. I believe I was truly born to be a musician. As a teacher, I love sharing my passion for music with my students. I am sensitive regarding my students' goals and the place that music has in their lives. I teach primarily classical music, both because I love it and because it is the best kind of music for teaching musical concepts and proper piano technique. I have also taught popular music if the student wants to learn it. If a student wants to play a particular type of music, I try my best to work it into our lessons together. It's important to me that my students really enjoy making music. My main goal in teaching music is to develop my students' appreciation of and love of music, and to share my own love of music with them.
