15 years of audio production, writing, and performance experience

I love to create! And I love to enable other artists who inspire me and those around me! And perhaps most of all, I love it when creativity is used as a tool to transform the ills of society into something brighter, more beautiful, more hopeful, more equipped to be a force of healing.

Frequently asked questions

I like to meet each student where they already are. When it comes to audio production/recording, live sound engineering and writing/poetry/lyrics (my main specialties)--each student will have different aspirations, different points of reference, and different resources available to pursue their dreams. My job is to activate their potential by co-creating a path for learning, growth, and success!

While my higher education focused on Peace Studies, my training and experience in audio production/sound engineering, and writing are much deeper endeavors that span over 15 years (50% of my lifetime!). I would invite those interested to check out my website to see examples of my work. I would also invite everyone to check out my nonprofit arts organization, Consensus! www.consensusafp.org

$25/hour is my minimum rate. Depending on the nature of the services, that rate may go up. I am also open to flat rate systems for projects.

I have taught more and more as time goes on, because the people around me have wanted to learn what I do as they watch me do it. But the teaching bug comes from my family roots, for I was raised by an art teacher and a sociology/research methods professor with a penchant for writing. I came to teach more my creating the nonprofit organization, Consensus: Arts for Peace, through which I designed and taught programs on the southwest side of Chicago.

Mostlly grade school, high school, and young adults--at varying levels of experience and engagement.

I really enjoyed playing Warper Party in Brooklyn, New York City this past January. It was a chance to connect with innovative live electronic musicians in another major city. I am also very proud of my work with a) Burners Without Borders Winter Ball & Community Grant Salon events--where interactive arts & dance parties meet community service, as well as b) Canvas Chicago on Sub Chroma and Voyager. For a taste of the types of multimedia experiences I have helped make happen, see: https://vimeo.com/148270256

Before you buy gear, talk to an expert who has no interest in selling you something at a store. You can do a lot without spending much at all. Other than that, the best medicine is a combination of expert setup, initial tutorials, and then going at it on your own! Plus it helps to go to events when age and transportation permits.

Who are my biggest artistic / creative influences right now?

What do I want to be able to make?

What resources do I already have available to me to create?

What can I spend on my own gear setup?

How can I become a part of / stay involved in the scenes that inspire me?
