ArtSpace Chicago Logan Square
About
I taught art for over 20 years. Currently I run my own art studio that has instructional classes and shows for emerging artists. My passion is using what I've learned about instruction to help everyone make the kind of art they dream about. I can work with you individually or in small groups. Whichever environment you feel is best for you to learn.

I really enjoy watching people make art. The thoughtful expressions they exhibit confirm they are deep in the creative process. While in that state they have no worries, their health is improvin, their natural state of joy is increasing. It may be the same as a doctor watching medicine take effect in a patient. Art is the medicine for people's souls and spiritual health. Not bingewatching Game of Thrones.
I have the skills and the experience to teach art at just about any level and to just about any age group.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I start working with a student I want them to have a successful experience right away. Because I've been teaching art for over 20 years my experience usually guides me in helping those wanting to improve their art skills each and every time we meet. This is important so my students continue to be motivated by their own progress.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. I have my degree in Art and Education.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I strongly feel that learning art should be an affordable experience. In that way it's open to more people. Especially young people who may not have deep pockets but lots of enthusiasm. And our older learners who also may not have lots of financial resources for private lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
My love of art led me to be an artist showing my work both in this country and overseas. But it felt a bit shallow. I realized that sharing my love of art making was what gave me fulfillment.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with the very young, teenagers, and adults. I've worked with the disabled and the gifted.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
As the owner of my own art studio preparing for my first art show of a local artist - a young local artist - is really making me happy!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you and your teacher share a common vision of what you'll be learning and how you like to learn.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do you really want to learn. What is your real time committment.
