About

My approach to fine arts teaching focuses on the journey as well as the destination. I believe in the meditative and often theraputic quality of creating and try to share that feeling with students. With me, students will learn the fundamentals of fine arts in order to build a creative flow. I am capable of teaching fine arts as well as craft projects, the direcction we go is up to you! I have studied fine art throughout my life, in college as well as post graduate. I have been running an art program called Art for Joy for the past three years (https://www.facebook.com/artforjoyprogram/) teaching children as well as adults. Frequently asked questions

Initially, I will ask a new student a few questions to determine their experience level and what they hope to achieve through our lessons. I like to get to know a new student a bit before begining lessons so I can insure that they get the most out of our time together.

Undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College, with a minor in Art History and fine arts. Studies at Lillstreet art center in Chicago, three years teaching and running the Polly H Ullrich Art for Joy Program here in Chicago.

My rate begins at $40 an hour and increases depending on what materials are required as well as how many students per lesson.

I have always loved fine arts and upon graduating college taught children's after school classes for a period of time. I then interviewed to begin the Art for Joy program and have found gratification in the process of teaching art.

All kinds of students, from very young to young at heart. I have worked with special needs students as well.

We hosted a two year anniversary party for the Art for Joy Program and have different stations everyone could delve into their creativity, from cookie decorating, painting on canvas and filling in picture frames on a table cloth. The event brought a large group of people together and it was very rewarding to step back and watch people enjoy socializing and creating art together.

I would advise someone looking for a teacher to find something in them that they connect with and trust your instincts. Ultimately the practice is yours.
