Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I figure out what is good about your voice and what needs help. I then work on very specific exercises that will keep what is good and fix what needs improvement.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Degrees in Music, Mass Media Communications and Speech Language Pathology.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
You receive a 25% discount if you pay for 4 in advance, so you get one for free.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching because of my love of singing and wanted to help those that wanted to improve.
What types of students have you worked with?
I usually work with non-classical singers. Singing non-classical music is quite different than singing classical singing. My approach in influenced by Seth Riggs and his world famous Speech Level Singing technique
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Seeing my students perform on some of the largest stages in the world
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you want to sing non-classical music (all forms of pop, musical theater), the worst thing you can do is study with an opera singer. You need someone with demonstrated excellence in the genre you are interested in.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask them about their successes in the style you are interested in. If you are talking to an opera teacher and they say, "If you can sing opera you can sing anything", run.
