I have been teaching music lessons since 2010 and have also taught middle school choir and general music since 2012.
I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a Bachelors in Music Education and VanderCook College of Music with a Masters in Music Education.
I love seeing students grow in their understanding and love of music. I enjoy the challenge of trying new ideas and practices to help each individual person find their own path to success of learning a new instrument or piece of music. Everyone learns differently and ends up bringing their own voice and style to the music.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will meet with the student to figure out what their interests and goals are as well as any previous piano or music studies they may already have. From there, I determine a curriculum and sequence of music that will fit their needs and ability level.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I work through the Des Plaines Park District primarily. Pricing for in district residents is $27 per half hour lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I started high school. My interests in music developed since I played guitar and piano through middle school and sang in choir. I ended up playing in jazz band, formed some rock bands with my friends, and took a music theory class. After all these experiences and more, I knew that I wanted to teach music.
What types of students have you worked with?
I typically accept students as early as 1st grade, but I have worked with a variety of students. I currently have students ranging from first grade through high school, as well as adults in their twenties through senior citizens.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would recommend that you find someone who has experience teaching. There are some great performers out there that may be amazing at playing their instrument, but they may not have any background in teaching strategies to help you grow.
