It is such a privilege and reward to help students improve their singing and help them achieve their goals. Everyone can sing and enjoy.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, a first lesson includes both a goal assessment and a singing assessment. Both are easily woven into the lesson and the basics of vocalization are started with exercises that the student can use right away. Songs are usually added during the second lesson. Lessons are generally 30-60 minutes and once a week.

I started teaching right after graduating from college and haven't stopped.
What types of students have you worked with?
The bulk of my students are high school - college age students. I also teach children and adults. Many of my students are pre-professional earning scholarships to study music and do go on to earn graduate degrees and perform professionally.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Spring recital week. Teaching is different locations allows me to spread my recitals out - usually taking place within a short amount of time. This spring all 3 of my recitals were wonderful - it is always a joy as a teacher to see students not only succeed but show continuous and exceptional improvement.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that knows how to help you find your voice in its most natural, healthy and vibrant form. Also, be careful to find a teacher that will be encouraging and supportive. Lessons and growth while challenging should also be enjoyable.
