Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
As a trainer, I specialize in Boxing training, Weight loss, Muscle Building, Functional Movements, and Recovery. Before creating a new program for a client, the first step is to do a fitness assessment to learn more about the client's Fitness and Boxing Skills. The assessment will help me understand how the client performs, and where should I start their fitness journey. I also do a questionnaire to learn more about any health or physical factors but also to know more about the Client's " WHY" and Personality which is important to hold the client accountable, and training chemistry.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started boxing in 2008 out of Garfield Park in Chicago, IL. Since then, I have trained alongside fighters like Adrian Granados, Semajay Thomas, The late Ed Brown, Nathaniel Gallimore, and Dereck Zugic, all which are Professional Boxers. As an amateur boxer, I have 46 fights and 9 losses. In 2012, I received my Pta Global Personal Trainer Certification and have been training clients since then. As a trainer for almost 10 years, I have worked with people of all ages, and fitness levels, and have figured out what works and what doesn't and how to make modifications to help all clients progress over time. As a boxing coach, I teach clients how to actually box and practice self-defense in addition to the strength training workouts to help maintain a strong and healthy lifestyle .

How did you get started teaching?
I started training clients in 2012 after getting more into weight lifting. For a long time, boxing was my only form of fitness, however, In 2010 I joined a local gym and started weight lifting more. Like many of us, weight lifting didn't come easy and some machines and exercises just seemed confusing so decided to I hired a trainer. After working with a trainer, I realized that fitness was my passion and I wanted to share it with others and that inspired me to get certified.
What types of students have you worked with?
My clients come in all ages, personalities, fitness levels, and sizes. I can work with anyone that is willing to put the work in. I have a personality that can make anyone feel comfortable and enough knowledge to work with different ages, skill sets, and fitness levels.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My best advice is to always make verify the trainer has the credentials they are claiming to have and that they genuinely care about you and your fitness goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What steps are they taking to identify any strength and weaknesses for overall fitness?
Where did the box and for how long? What is their boxing record? Which gym did they train out of?
How long have they been a certified trainer and how do they create a fitness program?
