Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first step in working with a new student is to ask them about their goals, music preferences, previous experience. We start off by learning the basics of reading music through songs /exercises/ piano games, then progress into more advanced techniques.
My curriculum includes learning to read music through a method book and applying that knowledge to real songs. Fingering, rhythm, song, duets, chords and chord progression will be touched upon in the lesson. I also try to incorporate games and fun activities into the lesson for my young students to keep them engaged in learning, because it's very important that a child enjoys our classes. To love to play piano and to be excited to learn new things in an interesting and a fun way is super important.
I always like to encourage my students to bring any music that interests them into their lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and a Master's Degree in Music Production and Management from the Moscow State University. I have been teaching Piano for 15 years.
I have also been working in an International-American school for many years, where I taught Music K-8 (Piano and other classroom instruments -ukulele, recorders, xylophones, etc...) I designed and directed many school performances, on holidays, school celebrations, etc.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $45/30min lesson.
