Prelude Education
About
I am an experienced educator with over 20 years of music teaching experience. I have worked as a professional musician and performed in the US and South Korea. When I'm not teaching music, I am on faculty at Purdue University, and also pursuing a PhD in the college of education.
My studio offers highly interactive lessons for young students. I also have extensive training and experience working with students with a variety of special needs.
I would love to meet and talk about how I can help you on your music journey!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For children, I like to play some games and get them excited about coming to music lessons. I also begin to teach fundamentals of the instrument and get them playing something right away.
For older children and adults, it's important to understand what their goals are and make a plan together to reach those goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied piano performance at the undergraduate level. Prior to that, I took classical and jazz lessons and received training in music theory for many years.
I am also highly trained in education and am on faculty at Purdue University and pursuing a PhD in the College of Education. I understand music and how to teach music most effectively.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Most of my lessons are 30 minutes, and I charge $30. For advanced students or students with specialized needs, additional lesson lengths and prices can be discussed.
