Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I break the ice by asking basic questions. Then I move on to asking what their favorite music is and then finally I ask what their learning goals are. I teach them what they need to learn theory wise and then I spend the other part of the lesson teaching them what they want to learn to keep them interested.
I chart all the students progress in Microsoft word by date and I encourage them to keep a notebook or a planner so we remember what day we did what.
I asked all students to get a metronome or an app of a metronome so they have it when they are practicing at home.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been playing guitar for a total of 17 years. I took lessons myself for 6 years and then got the rest of my training from jazz band and music comp/theory in school.
I learned music theory 101 in college and learned the rest from the internet.
