Chris is great at a lot of things. He can play just about any instrument, which is both useful for rehearsing bands and teaching instrumental parts and inspiring to kids. When they dont come in as part of a band, hes great at imagining who will play well together. Hes also great at keeping young kids focused. He has tremendous energy. His push to perform live is a big deal for young musicians and gives additional incentives for kids to get their act together. He helps them put set lists together, encourages them to bring in songs they want to play, does band photos and videos, and keeps kids from humiliating themselves in public. And his insistence that bands split their share of the door charge at venues is great, not so much because kids make money but because the little money they make has meaning: they feel like they earned it. Its just an extraordinary program, and thats all because of Chris. Hes a solid gold guy doing music education and performance coaching in a unique, kid-centric, music-loving way.

My son started as a guitar player, switched to mostly being a singer, and ended as a drummer! He loved all of the experiences and Chris flexibility. The bands debut single, I Like Gum is still one of my favorites!!

I started teaching when I saw a band with 12-year-old musicians perform live.  They were good, but I knew that I could help them reach the next level.

Most of the students at Rock Band Academy have been between 10-16 years old, but I have worked with musicians of all ages.

Despite the pandemic, I have enjoyed collaborating with former students to make music videos for the Rock Band Academy YouTube channel.

First, meet a teacher to discuss your goals.  Then, decide if they have the right experience, expertise and personality to help you.
