Since 2009, Chris Bihuniak has helped hundreds of musicians reach their goals with lessons on guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, songwriting and recording with his Rock Band Academy music program.
Chris is a singer, songwriter, musician, producer and studio engineer with a history of performance and recording since 1982. His children's music has awards from ASCAP, International Songwriting Competition, Teachers Choice, Parents Choice and Dr. Toy. Chris's instrumental Guitarra Parra albums have worldwide fans and his garage-rock band, Midlife Mafia, entertains with songs about growing old.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To ask them the following questions:
1. Which instrument(s) do you play or want to learn?

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Education - Chris studied music theory in high school and college while playing in school jazz bands and forming rock bands with friends.
Bands - He has performed over 150 different songs with 14 different bands comprised of 30 different musicians.
Recording - Chris has recorded over 300 original songs in England, New York City, Connecticut, Kansas and Spain. 152 of those songs, from 8 projects, are available on all streaming services resulting in nearly $200,000 in sales.
Teacher - At Chris's Rock Band Academy music program, over 1,000 songs at 35 concerts were performed under his supervision between 2009-2019. The YouTube channel has a variety of educational videos written, performed and produced by Chris.

Standard studio/lesson rate: $50/hour.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching when I saw a band with 12-year-old musicians perform live. They were good, but I knew that I could help them reach the next level.
What types of students have you worked with?
Most of the students at Rock Band Academy have been between 10-16 years old, but I have worked with musicians of all ages.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Despite the pandemic, I have enjoyed collaborating with former students to make music videos for the Rock Band Academy YouTube channel.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
First, meet a teacher to discuss your goals. Then, decide if they have the right experience, expertise and personality to help you.
