About

My goal is to ignite a passion for both music and theatre in young people. I have worked as a public school music teacher, and have a masters in Theatre (directing) which has put me in two Universities teaching and directing. I have played the harp for 25 years, majored in music, teach piano, and voice. I love preparing students for auditions with a song OR with a monologue. I love teaching music theory, ear training, and classical music history. I teach beginner piano, ukulele, and work with student on their vocal goals (county chorus, choir at school, broadway standards, or just starting out!) as well as harp lessons!

Abigail was so wonderful to work with! She was amazing with my daughter who was prepping for an audition. Abigail helped her find the right song and helped her to sing it correctly and with confidence. With Abigails help, she nailed her audition!

Frequently asked questions

I assess where they are musically, what their music goals are, and how I can help them reach those goals. I also really work on ear training and sight reading. With drama, I work on character, body awareness, and instinct.

I have a BA in music education, and 4.5 years of public school music teaching experience.

I have played the harp for 25 years. Took voice lessons for 10 years. And started the piano very young.

I have taught all beginner band instruments, as well as orchestra. I played the clarinet in the marching band in college.

I have a Masters in theater (directing) and have worked as a professor on record at two Universities (UNCG and UAF).

$15/half hour for everything except-

$22/half hour for harp lessons

$5 for saturday ear training/music theory group classes (select saturdays)

My mom is a music teacher, I grew up in a very musical house hold (my father was a professional Trombone player.) I went to college for music education, and started teaching directly after graduation. Before that I had several harp students, and since I have had several piano, voice, and harp students. I have also coached many students on audition pieces (acting) and have directed both locally and at the university level.

I enjoy teaching children, starting them off on their first instrument. But I have gone up through highschool, if I am preparing a student for a vocal audition. My specialty is K-8, however.

Recently I went to NYC and saw about 4 Theatre for Youth productions that were extremely inspiring (that is youth in the audience, professional adult actors on stage.)

I emphasize practice, even with voice. I would recommend finding a teacher that can meet your musical goals and that you get along with well. The connection between student, music teacher, and parent is very important for success.

How often should I practice, and for how long? How much do you cost? Will I have to rent an instrument? Do I have to already know how to read music? ...
