Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start at the green and develop good fundamentals and a repeatable routine for making 3-5 foot putts. Then we go to chipping where I teach you how to chip it to 3-5 feet and using your lob wedge to your 8 iron all around the green. After that we begin to work on hitting a consistent draw or fade so you can get it on the green in regulation or close enough where you can get it up and down.
All lessons are guaranteed and if you're not happy with the instruction, no fee is required.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have played golf for 54 years having had an accomplished junior and college playing careeer. I played tournament golf through out my working career in Arizona and have taught many people along the way. I recently retired from professional work and entered the PGA program. I do not have my Class A status yet but am on my way. That process takes 3 years.
I so enjoy helping people new to the game who don't beleive that they can get better. The thing they don't understand that if you learn the fundementals and are willing to put just a few hours a week into practicing the game gets easier quickly.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge a standard rate of 44$/hour which includes range balls. That rate is good for 2 people at a time if you'd like to bring a friend with you.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching when others saw my accomplishments in golf and asked for help.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked mostly with beginners but also enjoy helping the accomplished player fine tune their game.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The recent event I cherished is during a chipping lesson the gentleman I was teaching looked up at me and said "this way of chipping is so much easier".
And this one: "the routine has helped me calm the nerves and sink putts and chipping with the 8 and 9 irons have been great when far away from the hole. The draw you taught me has made me hit alot of greens. I shot 41 on 9 holes one round. Thanks for all the tips."
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask the teacher what they teach and why they teach that. I teach what I have used through out my playing career and will explain why I teach it the way I do.
Also ask if they use video instruction in their teaching. Seeing what your swing looks like is so important to making the changes needed.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students need to assess their needs and what they feel good about in their game and what they want to improve.
