About
Hi, I’m Rory Sullivan and I’m a Los Angeles guitar teacher and I specialise in teaching acoustic guitar.
If you are a complete beginner I can help you get started and playing your favorite songs in a matter of weeks.
If you play a bit already I can show you how to take your guitar playing to the next level and really master the instrument.
As a recording artist and touring songwriter, I love sharing the power of music - the theory and building a students skills so they can, ultimately, create their own music - whether to share or as a way to express their own feelings and emotions.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I take the first lesson to gauge where you are with the instrument and create that day's lesson and the rest following based on that information.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from the Cecil College in Maryland with an Associates Degree in Music, with a Concentration in guitar and have taught over 50 students within the last ten years being a musician. I also have 3 albums (on iTunes, Spotify, etc) and tour regularly.
How did you get started teaching?
Before college, I saw teaching as an amazing way to connect with people who had a shared interest in music. It really became a way to reinforce the information and skills I already knew and had.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from age 5 to 65 - mainly with acoustic guitar in the genres of folk, singer/songwriter, pop, rock, and country.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Know vaguely what your musical interests are as well as some of your goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What music do you like? Who's your favorite guitar hero? What kind of music do you want to play?
