I cannot recommend Sam enough as a piano teacher. He is patient and sympathetic, but also knew exactly when to push me to look for more in the music. He is great at explaining and demonstrating technical concepts, and his musicianship is a clear example of what a student should aspire to. I had a particularly inspiring lesson on a Chopin Prelude in which he showed me how to manage the awkward fingerings and pedaling, and then moved on to finding the most expression in the music.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With new students, I first see their strengths and weaknesses to create a plan that fits their own musical goals and also general development. I can give answers to any and all of the student's piano-related questions, and help take their piano skills and music knowledge to the next level.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a professional pianist and instructor at Merrimack College, with 10 years of teaching and 20 years of performing experience.
