About
As a contemporary abstract painter, and painting coach, I encourage and inspire students to free up, get out of their comfort zone, and move towards abstraction.
I have been drawing and painting all of my life and I am a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Through the years I’ve taught painting workshops, given painting demos, and currently offer private and semi private painting sessions.
The process of painting is always exciting for me. Each painting is a journey of mystery, discovery and fulfillment

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I tailor my Workshop to an individual’s needs. My lessons always begin with a conversation about where the student is at in his or her artistic journey, what their expectations are for our time together, and then a hands-on approach where I coach the student to be more expressive, let go of old ways, and free up.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been drawing and painting since childhood. I am a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. I have participated in workshops, taught workshops, given painting demos, and in 2009 was awarded a month-long painting residency at the Fine Arts Work Center of Provincetown.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes. I offer 3 hour workshop sessions for a fee of $225.
How did you get started teaching?
I began my early teaching through various art association’s that I was a member of. I began offering my own workshops 14 years ago through my then South End Boston Studio. I do the same now in my Melrose, Ma studio/gallery.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide range of students. Beginners, mature painters, and everything in between.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently participated in the 2nd annual Melrose Open Studio Tour. I was not only an artist on the tour, but served on the committee for this very exciting event.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
To be willing to get out of one’s comfort zone and be willing to try new approaches to painting.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
For my workshops specifically, students need to be comfortable and willing to work with acrylic paint. They should think about what their expectations are for this type of workshop.
