About
I often have parents tell me they don't believe that their child created the art that they took home after attending my class. They think I must have helped. Naturally, that has never been the case. I've been teaching art for over 20 years privately and at Winchester Recreation and have never once touched any of my students' works. I think kids are the best artists, and every child can make an incredible art work. (Please check out Seda's Art Studio on Facebook to see my students art works, I believe you will agree with me!) https://www.facebook.com/sedasartstudio
Although teaching over zoom is not as natural as teaching in person, it does mean you can watch your child create masterpieces in front of your eyes, and have no doubt they did it all by themself!
My aim is not to impress parents, (although often that happens) but to bring my passion and knowledge of drawing, painting and sculpting to my students so they will be confident in themselves and will be willing to try new things without being afraid of messing up. Also if they choose to pursue art beyond my classes, they will have a good foundation to do that too.
Once I had a student who would cover their paper while they drew, because they were embarassed of their ability and didn't want anyone to see their drawing. But after a few lessons, they were drawing confidently, and were proud of what they made.
Once again, I really hope you will check out my students' art and will be inspired to contact me!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually teach in the classroom with 10 kids.
I explain what the project will be about and give them some instructions and materials. I walk to each student's table and watch what they are doing. If they need help I always show them again on a seperate piece of paper how to start and progress to the end.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Clark University - Computer career Institute 2000-2001- Computer Graphics and Web Design
3D Studio 1995-1996
Making pottery, glazing, painting on ceramic
M.Toidze Art College, Georgia 1980-1984 - BA Stage Design Artist
How did you get started teaching?
Teaching came naturally to me. I was volunteering at my son's Elementary School before teaching professionally. Once I brought puppets and stage designs I've made with my sons at home to show at the school. I received a letter of thank you from my son's teacher. She wrote, "I don't know who enjoyed the puppet show more, me or the kids!" That praise gave me wings! I realised how much I was enjoying working with kids and decided to start looking for teaching jobs. I started teaching at my son's school as an art instructor in an afterschool Art program and then at Winchester Recreation where I still work to this day.
What types of students have you worked with?
I worked and am working with students from ages 6 to 65.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Solo piano concert of French pianist Lucas Debargue (before covid).
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
See the teacher's previous students' artwork.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Don't think, just ask. If something is troubling you while we are in a lesson together, it is probably better to let me know instead of suffering silently.
