Janet has a voice that is very calming and helps put you as ease. She always says that yoga is for every body. It reminds me that no matter where I am yoga is for me too! I love practicing with her!!

Janet is amazing at what she does. Guiding each individual and caring just for each like family. I don’t think I ever had this amazing experience with anyone else in all my years of practice. I highly recommend her to everyone from beginner to experienced.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I typically like to have a few minutes to talk to a new student to learn about any previous yoga experience (if any), medical conditions, injuries, etc. A few minutes to connect and hopefully help them feel at ease.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am RYT-500 with Yoga Alliance after completion of my 200 hour certification with Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts in early 2018 and my 300 hour professional certification in September 2021. I am certified in Prenatal Yoga and Children's Yoga.
Due to Covid-19 all classes are currently live-streamed via zoom. I am looking to offer some in person options soon, but many classes will remain virtual. You can register for any group classes at: up to one hour before class begins. The zoom link and password will be sent to your email on file approximately half an hour before class time.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I offer a single class drop in, multi-class passes, a monthly unlimited pass (best deal for those that attend multiple classes weekly) and several membership options.
The Wednesday Gentle Yoga is a Karma class; there are multiple payment options from $5-10.00 or use a class pass. No one will be turned away for not being able to pay.

How did you get started teaching?

After being interested in yoga, but afraid I couldn't do yoga. "I'm not flexible" "I can't do this or that" , I tried yoga at the gym. When I learned yoga was more than I ever thought it was, I knew there were others like me. I wanted bring the love of yoga and acceptance to others.

What types of students have you worked with?

I teach all bodies, from children to older adults. I teach prenatal and postpartum yoga. I have worked with outpatient schizophrenics at the Spring Grove psychiatric research facility. I work students of all ages, sizes, and abilities.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I offer a monthly weeklong ReCharge and ReNew workshop. It's a 5 day mini sunrise yoga immersion with an optional fast. After the week you are transformed Mind, Body, and Spirit.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Talk to the teacher. Be open with them about your particular fears (if any), injuries or medical conditions. Yoga is for every body, but not ALL is right for everyone. Being up front will help your teacher know how to work with you or modify the practice for you and/or your needs.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What style of yoga do you teach?

If a student has medical concerns they should let the teacher know. Some poses and breathing techniques have contraindications and if the teacher knows your situation, they can offer the correct alternatives.

As always check with a medical professional before begin any expercise program.
