    Frequently asked questions

If it's a student is new to the violin, we will first get familiar with the instrument by naming each part of it. Then we would begin to find a comfortable position to hold the violin on before trying to pluck the strings and make sounds. Note-reading is important for violinists, but it is also important to train our ears to develop the best technique. Its important students are set up correctly in the ears and have great postures.

If the student had prior experiences with learning the instrument, then I would first listen to the student play something they like and work with them on that first before moving on or adding other repertoires that I think the student could benefit from.

I am a graduate of Eastman School of Music and the University of Maryland. I have a bachelors and a masters violin performance degree. I have been teaching since my undergraduate years, and currently maintains an active performance and teaching schedule in the DMV area.

My students have performed in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and have been admitted to youth orchestras and performing arts schools in Maryland and California.

I have studied under some of the best pedagogues in the world and have served leadership position in orchestras and have played with many professional orchestras

For in person lessons, I charge $85 for one hour, and $45 for half an hour for in person lessons where I travel to the students within 10-15 miles of College Park, Maryland.

For online lessons, I charge $70 an hour, and $40 for half an hour.

I started teaching after taking a pedagogy class in school.

I have worked with students ages 4 through 40! From beginners to advanced students.

I recently played with Yo-Yo Ma with the Virginia Symphony - he was amazing!

A good teacher should also be a competent player and has many different experiences.
