About
For the time being, all my lessons are being conducted online on Zoom until the Coronavirus is under control.
My greatest joy is seeing a student’s smile when they realize that they have achieved a visual, imaginative and creative expressive result through drawing and painting. I have had 30 plus years to develop my skills as an artist, art teacher and professor of art history teaching many different levels at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Montgomery College, The American University and community colleges and public schools. I love the exploration and discovery that happens when I engage with the world. As a teacher, I love to share this experience with my students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
What are the student's goals and motivations? It doesn't matter how experienced the person is because they will be exposed to new ideas, materials and processes for expressing and representing their vision.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA and MA in painting, sculpture and art history, and have taught pre-k through senior citizens in classes at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Corcoran College of Art, Montgomery College, and other community colleges and public schools.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For one-on-one teaching I charge $50 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching children at St. Albans and The Corcoran College of Art, but didn't realize that teaching was my calling until much later after working in museums and galleries. In the 1980's I focused on teaching at the college level as an adjunct professor, and at the end of the 1990's I received my teaching certification for secondary education.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with all students at all levels.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Have an open mind.
