About
I am a composer and arranger currently in graduate school. While obtaining my advanced degrees in choral conducting, I have been working in classical and popular music as a freelance composer. My expertise goes beyond classical music, and into the realm of popular music as well.
I believe that musicians should have a working knowledge of all genres of music, Jazz, Pop, Classical, Neo-Soul, etc... I view composition as a spectrum, not separate disciplines.
As a teacher, my goal is to provide a holistic experience for students that marries the skills they have with those that will allow them to be successful in the musical world.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
As a teacher, my first step is to gain insight into what kinds of music/techniques students are interested in learning.
I feel that it is the duty of teachers to meet students where they are and refrain from unloading institutional baggage on them.
My ultimate goal, as a teacher, is to help students arrive at their desired destination. There may be a detour or two along the way, but all of our curricula will be designed to give students the experience they desire.
