About
My main objective is that students learn the proper basics to be able control the horse, while not hurting him and be able to have fun.
Balance and good equitation is necessary to make a good rider. This is the same whether you want to go to the Olympics, or go for a trail ride.
Once the student is a capable, caring rider, they can go on to explore any discipline they choose. They will have the tools and education that they need in order to be able to do that.
I'm not and up-and-down, circle the arena kind of teacher. My lessons are private, so you can concentrate on what you're learning. Occasionally I'll do a semi-private, if both riders are at the same level of competence.
I don't have "school horses". You will learn to ride on privately owned, well trained horses. The owners have granted me permission to use them lightly. Learning is much harder if your pony doesn't steer very well, or you can hardly keep his nose out of the grass, or he is crabby and refuses to canter.
As you can see, my main focus is safety and competency. If you're looking for a lesson mill, I am not your gal.
I'd love to talk with you, tell you more and learn about you and your goals and expectations. You can contact me here anytime or we can chat on the phone.
Thank you for considering me to teach you.

When I was young, I wish I had had somebody to teach me correct basics. But I didn't, and I learned it by immersing myself in riding. I loved every minute of it!
There's nothing better than watching a students' lightbulb go off when they finally truly understand something - and the big smile that goes along with it.
I've always had a lot of empathy for the horse. They're so loving and forgiving, they'll try very hard to figure us out.
Many never feel a kind touch and only know they are trained by force to be subservient.. This is so not necessary. I've done many remakes over the years, and I'm glad I can.

Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My education consisted of countless hours, both riding and observing.
When I started riding seriously, I was lucky enough to be able to train and watch one of the best riders in the country. She was a great influence on me.
I've always been sensitive to the horse, as well as all animals. I got to learn how to handle a horse properly, not turning it into a spoiled, begging mess, but making it an equal partner.
