I have played piano since a child, by ear and then with lessons. Learning basic music through piano is the foundation of all musical skills that can be enjoyed an entire lifetime. Music is definitely one of the best things in life. I have a college degree in Church Music and have been a church pianist or organist most of my life. And of course have great passion for people and music. I taught regularly in my home when my children were young; then got a day job; now am semi-retired and available for teaching again.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Inquire about past experiences with playing, lessons, performances, what they enjoy playing alone, what their hopes and dreams are, what kind of music they especially like, what other instruments they might enjoy learning, etc. Discuss practice routine.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
College bachelor degree in church music; many years as church accompanist; currently employed as church accompanist. Also very active in singing, harmonizing, playing baritone horn, accordian, marimba; have been employed as choir director and organist in years past.

No - have not taught for a while due to having a regular day job.

When my children were young, I taught at home. Worked out well.

Usually young girls, but welcome anyone.

Working with a men's gospel ensemble at the church where I play, and singing a special song at Sunday worship
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
One who has had a lot of experience; who is kind, patient, encouraging, inspiring, and firm, as they only learn when they are held accountable.
