About

Students ages 4 to adult can learn to play piano. I've been teaching for 13 years and hold a bachelor's degree in Music Education.

My primary goal in teaching is to instill a love of music! Everything I do is based on this idea. We can work together to establish a practice schedule (however busy you are!) with an incentive to help adults and children reach their practice goals! I believe in the power of success, as every little success is celebrated.

I am a judge for the National Federation of Music and have passed level 8 of the Carnegie Hall Conservatory program. I encourage all students to participate in festivals and/or simply a small recital.

Are you an adult student wanting to learn? I enjoy rewriting difficult songs for adults and kids to play, at their current level!

Do you have a child with a disability? I've worked with students who have various learning challenges like ADHD, dyslexia, and autism. My method with anybody that helps me be successful here is focusing again on those little victories! Patience and clear guidance can bring students of all backgrounds very far. A variety of activities in the class keep students focused and excited to learn!

Teaching piano has been a joy for me since I was in the 9th grade. I taught piano first in exchange for taking Spanish lessons! (Disclaimer: I do not speak fluent Spanish!) Then my mom signed me up for voice lessons, saying she didn't want to pay for piano as I had already been working hard in it. So I found more students and paid for my own piano lessons.

Fast forward to college - a beautiful campus in a small town provided a great stage for teaching community piano while I studied. At the end of Spring and Fall semesters, my favorite thing was putting together the recitals to display the amazing work these students achieved!

Austin, Texas brought more excitement as I worked in a studio there, but only was able to put on one recital before COVID hit. Now I am driven here in Springfield to bring the community together with piano lessons! I aspire also to begin a community choir in time.

I enjoy this profession primarily because it is doing what I love. Sharing the love of music with as many as I can.
