Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would find out what their goals are and start to build relationships with them through the language. From day 1 my students are immersed in comprehensible language so they understand and don't ever feel overwhelmed. If I am tutoring I would like to get as much information as possible on their resources used and teacher contact information so I can work to make them as successful as possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Spanish teacher and have been for 9 years.

How did you get started teaching?
I have always wanted to work with kids and have had a passion for Spanish since middle school. I went abroad in college and then a lot more after that. I knew this is what I wanted to do.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all ages and levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I went abroad to Peru with a group of high school students and they lived with host families while I co taught in the field with them. it was an amazing experience and I was able to share a place with young people that is so close to my heart.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would choose someone who is going to make you better at speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Not just memorizing vocab with flashcards, using verb charts, and being asked to do things that are not on your proficiency level.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Is the person you are choosing dedicated and passionate about what they do and about helping students to learn?
