About
Katherine Cobb’s passion for all arts has been evident since childhood. The key to drawing is learning to see - and drawing is the basis for a good painting.
Katherine started sketching in childhood, but didn't start creating fine art until the 1990's. She has taken workshops and courses from a number of artists in oils, watercolors and pastels. For decades, Katherine also designed and created art in fabrics, with showings in galleries and museums for her contemporary textile artwork.
Katherine teaches watercolors and water mixable oils , along with drawing.
Awards: Juried award, Piedmont Pastel Society, 2018 Calendar Show.

I work closely with my students, sharing my experience and tips on perspective, using a brush effectively, and applying color theory, for example. I take beginners who eventually proudly show off their finished paintings of city buildings and landscapes.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask their experience, what they want to learn, how they see themselves as budding artists. Art is so uplifting, but it can be scary to start, so I have some fun drawing exercises for beginners and some art-expanding exercises for people who have begun to understand perspective, proportion, composition, color. From there, it's a whole series of art lessons. I want to help each student expand and to get some joy from their art!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Numerous art workshops, here and in Europe
