Summer moved to the Charlotte area from Asheville, NC in 2017. She is a classically trained pianist and has been playing for 28 years, and teaching for 13. She currently teaches 20 students at a local studio, and is now opening time slots from her studio at home.
Summer focuses on expanding her student's ability to independently understand and interpret music. She focuses on classical training and knowledge of theory, and incorporates with that the ability to read and play chords. Her desire is to give her student's the skills they need to reach their goals, whether those goals are to have fun or to pursue a professional career in music.
Summer loves seeing my students work hard and accomplish their goals! She loves seeing them work through frustration and overcome challenges as they learn, knowing these are important life skills especially for younger children. But most importantly, she loves seeing her students gain a love and appreciation for music that will last a lifetime.

With new students, we generally discuss prior knowledge (if any) of music so that I can assess what level of musical instruction they need. Then we dive right in! I feel it's important for every student to immediately begin playing music to instill confidence and satisfaction in their accomplishments.
