About

Hello Yogis and Potential Yogis,

I offer a safe, encouraging atmosphere in which to practice yoga. I teach Kripalu yoga which is an experiential journey that develops deep awareness while providing specific guidance in the postures and movements of yoga.

I will guide you to move at your own pace, honoring your body’s needs in each moment. Kripalu Yoga develops the body, mind and spirit in a compassionate and non-judgmental way. You will leave class feeling energized and centered.

I hope to see you at a class soon. Everyone is encouraged and welcome to attend. And, your first class is FREE!

About Instructor:

Lori Walker has her 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification and is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance®. She also has a Master's Degree in Social Work and twenty years of experience with voluntary national health care organizations. Her mental health background contributes significantly to her teaching modality. She began her yoga practice 20 years ago after the birth of her first daughter. "The first thing I learned was that I was not breathing. I was literally living life while holding my breath. Learning to breathe properly has been life changing" she says. Several years after beginning her own practice, she felt the urge to teach. Creating a practice through her church, she instructed adults, seniors, children, and developmentally-challenged teens for several years. She left teaching temporarily to return to her not-for-profit roots as CEO of the Alzheimer's Association. At a new crossroads, in 2016 she chose to return to teaching yoga and has come full circle with her desire to share with others the many benefits of yoga.

Classes are at Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church at 8801 Park Road, 28210, near South Meck High School.

Mondays and Thursdays at 6:15pm

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30am

Classes are suited for the beginner or intermediate student using stretching and strengthening poses to tone muscles, improve posture, increase flexibility and improve balance. The class includes a series of postures and movements to build core strength, endurance and flexibility. The focus is on proper stretching, breathing, and relaxation techniques to strengthen one’s body and clear the mind in the Kripalu tradition, honoring mind, body and spirit. Alternative postures and modifications are provided to encourage safe exploration to build confidence, flexibility, balance and strength.
