I have my undergraduate degree from East Carolina University in Greenville. I have also taken Graduate Level courses in Piano Pedagogy, and done thesis work there. I have the MTNA Professional Certification both permanent and national levels. I have been teaching over thirty years and am quite passionate about what I do.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting to know the student and what kind of music he or she likes... then evalutating them on note knowledge and how advanced they are technically
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified in Piano Pedagogy from Music Teachers National Associatin, MTNA. I have many graduate courses in Piano Pedagogy under Dr. Kerry Carlin. I have been teaching piano for over 25 years and use a variety of methods as I know that everyone learns differently

For thirty minutes: $25.00
For forty Five minutes: $30.00
for Sixty miutes $ 40.00
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in high school when I was a student at North Carolina School of the Arts. I was helping a lot of voice students in college who were struggling with basic piano lessons.
What types of students have you worked with?
All kinds. Kids, teenagers, adults senior citizens. I have also worked with Aspergers and Autisim students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I took my students over to Brighten Gardens for their spring recital and had a student play a full recital program who was graduating It was moving to everyone. The student playing and the residents at Brighten Gardens alike.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask lots of questions and make sure that you feel comfortable with the teacher. That is the most important goal.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What music do you use? Do you teach a variety of styles? Is popular music and jazz okay? Can I pick some of the music that I get to play? What are your recitals like? Do you offer group classes?
