Play-Practice Basketball
About
Our philosophy is all about meeting the players where they currently are. We approach every player and every group we work with at an individual level to understand where they are coming from and where they want to go.
We want to find out exactly where their limits are for skill, knowledge, and ability in basketball, and then we want to find a way to push that limit and help them reach toward the player they want to become.
Most of our training focus is on decision-making, as we have found that most players that are struggling in games experience anxiety and information overload that results in indecisive play, and performance below their potential.
We like to say that skills are built downstream from decisions: If a player can make the correct decision to shoot when they're wide open, we can build the skill to help them make that shot. If the player can decide correctly when to drive to score vs pass, and be confident in that decision, then we can help guide them toward finding exactly what they need to see to make that decision correctly.
Once players have the context of the game situation that a skill applies to, and the key information to look for to make a great decision, then we can build the technical skillset to go with it.
We ultimately work with Players that want to change. Improvement requires change, and often requires abandoning techniques that have brought a player success in the past. Our clients are almost always in a period of transition from either never having played before, trying out for a competitive team for their first time, or trying to move up from JV to varsity, or from bench to starter role this year. We focus on ages 10-14, at whatever level, we are confident that we can guide you toward the player you are already becoming, only with our help, you will get there faster and have more fun doing it!
Seeing immediate progress from players implementing specific changes, and then guiding them through making decisions using their new skills in competition.
