I am a full-time Professor on the piano department at Westminster choir College. I have also written a book for Oxford University press " The Positive Pianist: how flow can bring passion to practice and performance". I have enjoyed great success with this book and have lectured all over the world. I have an active studio in my home in Montclair.
It is a great joy to teach piano and 2 establish relationships with children and parents that extend over decades! What could be better!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It is totally student oriented. Every student is different. My goal is to find what ignites love for music and then move into that direction. Students need inentives to practice and this is continually provided in the form ranging from informal performances to top competitions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Four degrees in Music including a Bachelor's and Doctorate in Music teaching. The latter was from Teacher' College/Columbia University.

Lessons start at $45/half hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I've loved teaching ever since I was little kid. It's in the blood I suppose as several relatives on both sides of the Atlantic were teachers.
What types of students have you worked with?
Little ones to college aged (I'm on the piano faculty at Westminster Choir College) to adults - Anyone really!!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We had a fabulois piano recital a couple of months ago The kids were amazing!! Also my final exam at Westminster were the best ever! The students played so well.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Check qualifications but make sure that the chemistry is there!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Can you bring out the music that I so want to play?
