About

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: We'll talk about first and foremost about his/her goals as a player and how the guitar is a part of their life. The first lesson is also where I assess music tastes and stylistically how/where they are drawn to learn and become a better player. If he/she has previous playing experience, any current strengths/weaknesses or problems with the guitar in the past. I also pay attention to their form so I can catch any bad or good habits they have while playing.

A regular guitar lesson with me might entail the following: Each lesson always begins by tuning the guitar. After taking lessons with me I can guarantee that every student will be able to tune on their own without my help. After we are in tune then the first half of the lesson is spent on review. We are reviewing material from the previous lesson, assessing any road blocks that were found during practicing, and having a refresh on some of the exercises introduced last time. The last half of the lesson is spent on new material. This can be a new song by my or the students choice OR a new technique.

TEACHING GEAR: I use a portable speaker system for my travel lessons and play songs through a teaching program that has the ability to change key and tempo of a song to ensure maximum playability.

GUITARS: I'm sponsored by Gibson guitars and own a vintage hummingbird. I also play an Eric Clapton Fender strat and Taylor T5. My influences are: Keith Richards Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia, Ryan Adams, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Dawes, Billy Joel, Ray Lamontagne, Muse, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty

My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio or the student's home

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours: I have availability on some weekdays. Contact me directly to discuss this further.

Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Slide Guitar, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Song Writing, Recording and Production, Guidance In Equipment Selection

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Willing to practice. Open minded to learning an instrument. And responsive about scheduling our lessons. Most of all: Is ready to have FUN playing the guitar!

I believe in the power of music to touch, move, and inspire every listener. My love for music is contageious and it brings me joy to empower my students to play to their potential.
