Lauren Banjo Guitar Lessons
About
My teaching approach: Lessons should be fun, not a chore, which is why I teach the student what they want to learn. I adapt the songs and make them easier to play for beginners, slowly adding more until they're playing it just like the recording. I also teach music theory and ear training, so the student not only plays the music, but understands it. I encourage students to write their own songs -- and will even bring my remote recording rig over so they can record their song, at no additional cost.
My influences are: Green Day, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, The Clash
Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Recording and Production, Guidance In Equipment Selection
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: If the student is an absolute beginner, I teach them how to tune their guitar and a few open chords. If not a beginner, I ask them about what they know -- chords, scales, theory, etc. and go from there.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: I would first start with reviewing what we did last week. If the student did not practice or needs more help, we spend the lesson going over it again. If they succeeded, we move onto the next part or task.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: My ideal student is eager to learn. The last thing I want to do is force somebody! I refuse to teach students who seem like they're being forced by their parents.
