My name is Derrell and I am from Somerset, NJ. I've been playing piano for over 15 years and I have my Bachelors in Piano Performance. I'm experienced with teaching children of all ages and experience levels. I am fluent in classical, jazz, gospel and rock. I also read piano music on an advanced level. Currently, I am an organ/piano musician at my church and I play there on a weekly basis. Students will learn how to read piano music on all different levels and how to properly play the piano. They will learn a variety of songs and proper technique.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson is an introductory lesson that I provide at half off the lesson price. The main purpose of the lesson is to introduce the student to their new instrument and for them to get an understanding of it. Also it is a way to find out if the student is really interested in learning.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have an hour lesson and half hour lessons available. I will either travel to my students or they can travel to my home studio in Franklin Township. My rates are 50 per hour in home or 40 per hour in the studio. 30 per half hour or 20 in the studio. The first introductory lesson is half price.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching 4 years ago when I was a pre k teacher at a daycare. Then I had a parent one of my pre k students in my class inquire about in home piano lessons. Ever since then, I've been teaching private lessons.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types of students from beginner to intermediate. And I've taught students as young as 4 years old to adult students.
