About

Hello to all. My name is Devonne Giles and I am a professional basketball player in Europe now for 14 yrs. I was born and raised in Newark, NJ where I attended Malcolm X Shabazz High School from 1997-2001. While there I was awarded Essex County player of the year, 1st team All-State, Group 3 State Champion and MVP, Tournament of Champions MVP, Essex county tournament MVP, Newark Holiday Christmas tournament champion and MVP, and New Jersey Player of the Year runner up to Dajuan Wagner. After completing high school, I attended Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas from 2001-2003. During my two seasons there I did pretty well and was awarded all conference1st team all region 1st team, and last but not least 1st team All American honors which meant alot to me. Finally, to finish off my last two years of eligibility I attended Texas Tech University where I had the honor to play for Hall of Fame coach Bobby Knight. My senior season our team went as far as the sweet 16 before we were eliminated by a really good University of West Virginia team who went on to the Final Four if im not mistaking.

My overall goal is to train and teach the game of basketball fundamentally physically and mentally. Now a days I see a lot of people training and practicing moves that doesn't translate to real game situations. Even though all the moves are cool to look at, they don't always have a relevance to in game situations. My service will provide you with actual fundamentally sound drills, and training that will translate to real in game situations. From 2003-2005 I attended Texas Tech University where I was coached by the greatest fundamentally sound coach there is Bobby Kinight. While playing there those two seasons, I learned so much small things about the game of basketball such as reading screens, setting screens, and making quick and effective moves with purpose opposed to just running around with no understanding of why you are doing what you're doing. Skills will only take you so far, but skills with the addition of knowledge of how to use those skills effectively is what I want to provide to my clients. I love basketball, but I love it even more when it's played the right way.πŸ’―.

What I enjoy most about training, and mentoring is simply teaching the game of basketball, sharing my knowledge and experiences with those who want to learn, and building good relationships on and off the court. I enjoy being a positive role model and interacting with the youth of our future generations.

    Frequently asked questions

First I want to know what each specific player wants to get better at individually. Once I have an idea of what they want, I'll implement certain drills specifically for that with the addition of other drills as well

I have basketball experience from middle school all the way up to the professional levels. I know what it takes to get there and to stay there.
