My solo CD “Voyahe Home” has received 4.5 stars from Downbeat magazine, picked among “best albums of 2017”. Experienced private teacher, veteran pro of the New York scene since 1980, including worldwide jazz festivals, Broadway shows, recording work and specialization as jazz soloist. Am also classically trained (Vince Penzarella of NY Philharmonic) and can prep students for high school and college auditions, standard repertoire. I was personally mentored in NYC by three of the greatest jazz trumpeters in the world - Randy Brecker, Tom Harrell, and the late Lew Soloff of Blood Sweat and Tears fame. Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First lesson I always allow for extra time. My normal lessons are either one hour, or 90 min depending on the needs and level of the student. An individual plan is created based on goals, priorities, and regularity of lessons. An emphasis on basic trumpet skills are always important, and a balance will be struck between that and other goals such as jazz inprovisation, classical audition materials, ear training and music theory.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
