Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

I ask him/her to demonstrate their ability for a bit of time, and then quiz them on their knowledge of technique and theory.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

In a lesson with me, first, I check what the student has been practicing since the last lesson, and teach him/her how to make it sound better or play it in a more technically correct manner. Then, I go over new material, either songs, sheet music, theory, or something else, depending on the student's needs. Lastly, I wrap up with something fun.
