I love it when a student discovers the connection between themselves and a character they are working on....When they realize they are matching the truth of the character to the truth in themselves. And I know each student is making progress when they remember to breathe!

Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to my college training I am a professional actor with credits on Broadway, off Broadway, regional theatre television and film.
I am a member of the National Alliance of Acting Teachers and have taught in Princeton, Bucks County PA ( Bucks County Playhouse) Santa Fe New Mexico, as well as private coaching for 20 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Currently I am charging $75-125 an hour
How did you get started teaching?
I was asked by a school and I thought "yikes I know how I do it but can I teach others to do it" I discovered I could based upon my intuition specific to the student. It excites me to pass on technique and craft. Over the years I have learned many "ways in" to help a student connect to the material they have been given or have chosen to work on.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with teens and young people aspiring to apply for theatre arts programs as well as amateurs who want to perform simply for the love of it.
I also work with adults and seniors who want to understand the craft and step inside it just for enjoyment. Actor training increases empathy and cultivates more discerning consumers of theatre and film performance.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Have a conversation and get a feel for the person. You must feel comfortable and believe you can trust the teacher. Students also must commit to putting in some practice time between classes. And teachers put a lot of work in "off the clock" looking for appropriate material to suit each student. It's a relationship
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think through what you want out of private one on one classes. Are you looking to acquire monologues to use for audition purposes? Are you looking to just get an introduction to the basic technique of acting? Everyone starts somewhere.
Are more mature students looking to learn to adapt to camera performance (tv film etc)? Are you looking to learn aspects of physical theatre and movement based performance (Lucid Body, Chekhov technique, clown ) OR psychological realism ( Stanislovsky and American systems such as Stella Adler, Meister, Strasberg or "Method" )
Check in with yourself about what excites you about acting and put it into words
