About

I am a drawer-- it is my primary medium and my passion. I also teach drawing at Teachers College, Columbia University in the Art and Art Education program. I’ve had solo exhibitions and the work is in multiple private and museum collections. I teach introductory drawing, fundamentals of drawings, advanced drawing, special projects... Whatever you want to learn about drawing, we can tailor the class to that. I like best to teach out of my studio in West Harlem and at NYC museums but for now it's all zoom and still works. Check out my work at tarageer.com

I have taught every age and every ability -teaching classes for those who said they could never draw, for students assembling portfolios for specialized highschools and art colleges, for professionals in various fields facing creative blocks or who have lost the sense of why they are doing it, for kids with unusual cognitive challenges, for finding the meditative enjoyment of just drawing. I am interested in how people learn to draw and in drawing alongside my students. Right now it is a good way to find some calmness and focus.

We go over the students past work --if they have some-- and expectations or goals for the class. Figure out what the likely bumps may be and create a work plan together.
