How did you get started teaching?
I come from a family if teachers, so it all came to me very naturally. I was already teaching my class mates in school, and then I realized I had an easy time explaining concepts that were quite complex and helping musicians find their self-esteem and confidence.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children and adults, beginner and advanced students. Everyone is a different person, music is beautiful in that it opens the mind and the soul to new discoveries.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently I saw Wagner's Ring cycle, at the Metropolitan Opera NY. It is always a remarkable large scale experience.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try to find someone that you can connect with at an emotional level, that's probably the most important thing in the relationship between the student and the teacher.
It is important to be exposed to a great variety of styles, as we are all developing into different people every day and a greater vocabulary we agreed give us a greater Number of options to navigate in our path. So I would not be too concerned with style, but more with a human connection with the teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Where do you see yourself growing with your music? Why is it that you decided to pursue the path of learning more about music?
