At Studio LIS, our guiding principal is "Learn. Intuit. Succeed." We believe that if you learn your craft and your business, and trust your intuition, you are bound to succeed. We are committed therefore to developing well rounded singing artists with healthy technique to create artistic freedom, emotional well-being for top performance, and business acumen to thrive in the modern economy.
We provide voice instruction, personal development, and career coaching at the highest level in Manhattan, and throughout the world in private studio, Masterclass, and workshops. We seek to keep classes affordable for artists at every level by partnering with industry experts, accredited institutions, and other organizations committed to the development of singing artists. The evidence of our effectiveness is shown through the success of our students, and their testimonies of progress and achievement through our instruction.
Studio LIS is owned and operated by Elisabeth Stevens, soprano. Affectionately known to friends and colleagues as Lis, Ms. Stevens is a critically acclaimed operatic soprano known for her elegant interpretations of Giuseppe Verdi’s great soprano roles, and decorated with awards from international competitions. Lis has always been passionate about vocal technique and received accolades for her thoughtful approach to the classical repertoire from the early stages of her training. She has served on the voice faculty at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, maintained a private studio for a number of years, and serves on the faculty at the International Lyric Academy in Italy.

What Lis enjoys most about her job is watching you, the singer, progress in all ways. The aha moments, the understanding that dawns sometimes after years of studying with various teachers, the breakthroughs. LIs says "I even enjoy the times when students have been away for periods of time and come back with new progress learned in other environments. The ultimate payoff is when students are rewarded for their hard work with opportunities." Currently Studio LIS professionals can be heard in the American Spiritual Ensemble, on stage at the Metropolitan Opera, in professional choirs throughout New York City and Philadelphia, and on international stages throughout the world.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically in the first lesson, we get to know one another. We have already done the work of discoveringyour goals objectives on the phone, however we have to learn each other's styles and I have to learn your voice! So, we will do a lot of vocalizing and usually work on one introductory piece that you will bring with you. By the end, we will have already made progress in at least one area of technical understanding.

Group lessons start at $45 per session while private lessons are $110 per hour.

I have worked with students of all levels and all ages. Today, I work with students age 16 and above.
